Agreed, girl child are better taken care of in present days but image of a grown-up girl is more or less the same.In our culture, women are treated as sacrificing soul. It is not uncommon to find the mothers, fathers, husband , the so-called wiser and experienced people offering the advice of "sacrificing for the sake of family" to women. For that matter, advices are showered when she wants to do something of her interest and not of the husband, in-laws, family or society. And if she denies or argues, she is branded ill-cultured, a wrong-match in family or family's ill-fate.At times she is remarked every now and then.
Times have changed, so has society, but this custom trampling over women simply doesn't seem to change. Why is it always sacrifice of a woman, the only way to build a happy home?
why is newly wedded girl in home is suppose to chose between logically right or her belongingness to new home?
Why is it always this girl who is threatened to be thrown out of home if her mind and heart fails to believe the facts given by new family.
Does any one realize how vulnerable this woman is? How weak does she feel inside?
She is the one who has left her home behind and for what - to forget who she is , to live and die for this new family ?
This whole process of victimizing women is sanctified in the name of home-maker.She is a daughter, she is a sister,a wife, a daughter-in-law, a sister-in-law,a mother....anything but a woman.
Things really need to be polished. Else all these days are just a way to ensure increased number of sales of greeting and feminine gifts or at max to have dine out.
If Indian society really mean it then it needs to prove it .
